2. Next Generation Seeds

Summer is vacation time for most BC growers. They have a natural aversion to hot weather and most shut down and forget about their indoor grow rooms. A few plant-loving growers forego vacations and care for the cast away cannabis.

At our next stop, a couple of properties managed by Next Generation Seeds, we toured a small greenhouse of abused plants and a two indoor grow rooms. The plants in the greenhouse had recently been transplanted and were on the mend. The 2 x 4 framed greenhouse with an inexpensive plastic skin was located in a low-lying field of tall grass. The well sighted greenhouse received full sun and a natural breeze provided near perfect ventilation through an open wall and vent hole on the other end.

A couple of small (by BC standards) summer grow rooms were also on the tour. Although hot weather and spider mites had taken their toll, the plants, kept for breeding and genetic experiments were looked alright.

We also saw another simple inexpensive basement grow room that was set up and operational in a single day. Anybody with a little extra space could set up a similar garden and begin harvesting thick juicy resin-squirting buds in a few months. I shot no still photos of this garden, it is available on the DVD only. The key word to this garden is budget!

Greenhouse plants were transplanted from 4-inch and one gallon pots into 3 and 5-gallon containers. Plants are just starting to green up and grow one week later.

Water cascades into a holding reservoir in the foreground. Small cuttings root and grow in 10 x 20-inch flats and other female clones vegetate in the background. This room has plants that will be ready to clone or flower all year round.

This view of the greenhouse shows you the simple 2 x 4 construction. Notice that it also allows for ventilation around the bottom. One end of the greenhouse is open and the other has a large hole in it for air to flow through.
